Hi,
I want to play a video at 3x speed with quicktime. 2x is too slow, and 4x is too fast.
As far as I can tell, the only speed controls are the forward and backward arrows beside the play button.
I know that previous versions of quicktime had 3x playback. I'm using quicktime 10 on OS X lion. Is there any way to set playback speed to 3x?

QuickTime 10.1 (Lion) doesn't have the A/V Controls window but it is found in QuickTime Player 7.6.6 and it offers 3X playback.
Lion and Snow Loepard users can run both versions of QuickTime. 7.6.6 installs in the Utilities folder.

Click the FF button to set the speed to 2X. Then hold down the Option key while clicking the FF button to increase playback speed in increments of 0.1X until you reach your 3X target speed.

If using Quicktime 7.X, type Cmd-K to open Show A/V Controls (or Window> Show A/V Controls). When the A/V Controls dialogue window opens, in the bottom right corner is a slider for Playback Speed. Move the slider up to 3X. The advantage is that when the movie is saved, it reopens with that preference intact.
