Hi, my Macbook Pro version 10.6.8's DVD/CD drive is not working. It makes a weird -bee oop bee oop bee oop- sound before it ejects the DVD disk. Anyone know how i could fix it? I haven't checked the inside or anything yet, but I think it may be a serious problem. It's running on Snow Leopard, and has 4gb RAM memory.

If it reads it's fine.
If it wont read, it's junk.
I have the same problem - makes the exact same sound and then ejects the disc....have tried using a CD laser lens cleaner, still doesn't work 😠
If a cleaning disc doesn't do the trick, replace the drive. It can't be repaired.
It now works! I left the drive out for a while, and so it just might have been a peice of dust or something that was messing with the drive. Thanks for all of your help.
The heads are postioned with a stepper motor rotating a screw shaft. If the stepper motor has jammed, it is possible for it to make those beep-boop noises rather than a faint shooshing noise as it attempts to position the heads.
