I want to hook up my mac book pro to my tv.

How do I do this with the least amount of cables?

Thanks!

Which MacBook Pro do you have? You can likely find a cable at the Apple Store (and then look for it cheaper on Amazon) that will let you connect to HDMI, whatever. Post your model (About This Mac, More Info, System Report) and it will give you your model number (mine is MacBookPro8,2 for example). Then you can download your manual and see what kind of video out port you have - and find out what sort of adapter you'll need.

Assuming you have a relatively recent MBP with a mini-displayport oor thunderbolt port you need a mini-displayport to hdmi adapter (asuming you have a TV bought in the last, say, 6 years) and a hdmi cable. Alternatively you could use a mini-displayport to hdmi cable.

I always recommend monoprice.com for good quality cables and adapters at low prices.

Examples:

Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support

28AWG HDMI High Speed Certified Male to Male Cables

See my post here for information on how to configure the setup once you have the physical connections.
