iPad 2 Screen replacement?

My iPad 2 just slipped out of my hand when i was carrying it into my house. I have booked an appointment at Genius Bar but I want to know what Apple will offer in the UK. Do Apple repair iPad screens firstly, or will i need to buy a replacement iPad, and if i can have it repaired how much will it cost me?

P.S the screen is shattered badly with cracks covering the screen and white rim and pieces of the glass falling out and a black crack in the white rim but the screen still works, so would there be any way to have it repaired? This is also the first time I have EVER damaged my iPad, is there any kind of first offence policy? Answers asap would be appreciated!

iPad 2, iPad purchased in December 2011.

They don't do repairs (the iPad is effectively a sealed unit), you will get a replacement - the prices here in the UK are (from here) :

iPad model	Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
New iPad	£256.44
iPad 2, iPad	£206.44

Thank You- I was wondering if you also knew if they ever grant exceptions to these kind of incidents or whether having Apple Care would help at all?

Apple Care+ covers two cases of accidental damage, but I think that only the 'ordinary' AppleCare is here in the UK

Ive just this minute got back from the Apple store in Lakeside shopping center and they told me they they dont repair screens, they replace the iPad, great i thought, she asked me which ipad it was (it's an ipad 2) and she said that it's £199. That's hardly replacing the unit, that's just me buying another one albeit and a discounted price.

I thought she may have took pitty on my 9 yr old daughter as it's her iPad and she was with me at the time.
