No Airplay from iMac to AppleTV

I am stuck. I can't send music or video to Apple TV from my iMac or MacBook Pro. I can, however, send music from my iPad2

I am able to see the airplay button at the bottom of the iTunes app, but when I select AppleTV I get a dialog that says connecting to AppleTV but the connection never completes. The same happens in the MacBook Pro. With the iPad2 the connection is almost instantaneous.

The odd thing is that I can connect to my iMac iTunes library in both from the Apple TV. The AppleTV is connected to my Airport (latest version) via ethernet, all the other devices are wifi.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
