You don't.

If youo have a 1st gen iphone, then 3.1. is the latest available.

If you have a 2nd gen then 4.2.1 is the latest available.

If you have a 3rd or fourth gen then 5.1.1 is the latest available

Just found ot it is 2g. how do I get the 4.2.1 ?
