iPod Help URGENT

my iPod was originally iOS 4.3.3 and it had the full 8gb of capacity, ever since upgrading to iOS 5, the capacity has gone down to 6.4 and I've been searching for answers which are saying that the missing 2gb is from firmware, and I want to know if it is possible to get rid of the iOS 5 firmware, so that it'll go back to iOS 4.3.3 because thats what I payed for.

I am NOT looking to jailbreak, download any third party software or anything like that. I want an answer that'll lead me to do it myself, unless the only option is to exchange it for a normal iPod which does have 8gb.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

An 8 GB iPod only has about 6.3 or so GB available to the user. The difference from the 8 GB is due to the iOS taking up most of it and the other is how GB is advertised and actually used. The later iOS require a little more storage then earlier ones.

No it did not. With iOS 4.3 it still had about 6.3 or sp GB available to the user.

As I said in my first reply, downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple. That is all I can say in this Apple forum.

Stop for a minute, take a deep breath, and then read this VERY carefully:

Your iPod NEVER had 8 gigs of useable memory. Regardless of which version of iOS is installed, some memory space is used to store the code. Beyond that, some memory is used for transient data storage, data buffers, and so forth.

Unfortunately as Apple moves from one version of iOS to the next, the code space grows and we have even less memory to work with. Its a bummer, but that's life...get over it.

Finally, there is no legitimate (read Apple supported) way to roll back to a previous version of iOS. Once upon a time it was possible, but Apple in their infinate wisdom changed all of that..
