reduce photo file size for e-mailing as attachment?

I find using the iPad 2 very frustrating! Is there a way to reduce photo sizes for e-mailing as an attachment? It's very easy to change to large, medium, or small in Mail or iPhoto on an Apple laptop or desktop computer, but I'm not sure if it's even possible on an iPad 2. As it is, it seems the iPad 2 can only attach about five photos taken with the iPad 2 Camera app, and trying to send an e-mail with that many seems to bog down and fail.

Is it possible to reduce the photo file size for e-mailing as attachment?

To elaborate a bit on what Demo was saying, after you have selected the pics from the Photos app, and shared via email, you should see the word "Images" on the right along with the size of the attached images (this will be at the far right of the cc/bcc field if you have it displayed. It doesn't look like it, but you can tap the word Images, it will then expand onto a new line where you can select the size of the images to send (small, medium, large, actual). It also shows the file sizes along side.

You can reduce the size of the photo if you email it from the photos app. After you have selected the photo and you have the mail app open in the photos app, there should be something that says "image" or "image size" that you can tap on to reduce the size of the photo. I think it will be in the Cc/Bcc field.

If that option doesn't appear, the photos are small enough to email without reducing the size.

It could be your WiFi network or email provider that is having the problem.

There is a 5 photo limit with the photos app. The workaround for that is to add the 5 photos in the photos app, cancel the email - but save the draft - open the draft in the mail app - and then copy and paste the other photos that you want to email into the body of the email. It's cumbersome, but it works.

The only reason that I can think of as to why you are not getting the option to reduce the images size is because the images aren't large enough to necessitate reducing. that just doesn't make sense though if you are trying to email 5 photos at a time. Those 5 photos would have to be large enough to bring up the "images" option.

So why don't use just try two really basic troubleshooting steps - quit the photos app completely and restart the iPad and then see if the option pops up for you.

Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down the app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Quitting the Photos app completely and restarting the iPad worked - the "Images" option came right up - thanks!

It appeared as if every app that had ever been used was in the task bar of recent/open apps. That might also have been creating a problem? (I've been trying to help troubleshoot this for a relative; I don't have an iPad myself and still don't know much about how they operate.)
