How can I upload songs to my ipod without formatting it on a new itunes?

I had my ipod touch connected to my old computer on itunes, but the computer went down and i cant access it anymore. I connected my ipod to my new computer and new itunes but it says it needs to be formatted and erase all songs on it so it can connect to the itunes. Is there a way i can use my new itunes, but keep all my old songs on my ipod? I have too many to erase them all.

Windows XP

Nah i dont have a backup of anything. Not sure how i would back up more then a 1000 songs, i'm not to knowledgeable about computers. I just know how to put the song on itunes and sync my ipod to it. Oh well, might just get a cheap mp3 player, they seem more compatible and user friendly, at least i have heard that.

It's very easy to backup media... you simply backup the computer.

Choosing to not backup the computer is rather ignorant. All it takes is a power surge, hard drive failure, natural disaster, computer virus, or theft and all your important media and files are gone.

Most Operating Systems have backup solutions included, it's simply up to the user to provide a place for it to backup (i.e external hard drive) there are also options to backup to a web based service.

As for the iPhone and iTunes not being user friendly, I'd seriously disagree with you on that statement. Ultimately it's up to you, but I think after a little hassle with another mp3 player and trying to manage it via other software you'll agree as well.
