Your iBook can be upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)
You're best to use a retail copy of this software, it can be found on some online vender's web sites or you may find a copy on eBay.

If it hasn't already been done, I would recommend maximizing the RAM with a 512 MB module.

Thanks for the info,the dvd/cd for Panther and Tiger are so expensive i wonder if its worthwile upgrading on an old laptop?.
