How to re-install Mac OS X?

Hi,

I am trying to re-install Mac OS X, but when it tells me to select a destination, no destination appears.

How can I re-install Mac OS X in this case?

Yes, it is.

I was trying to re-install OS X because of a freezing problem.

In April this year, I installed the antivirus program Avast 7. Since I installed this program my Mac experienced freezing problems. I un-installed Avast, but the freezing problems persisted and got worst until I could not do anything. The Mac was freezing all the time.

Leopard is a paid upgrade, and originally cost about $130. It is only available on DVD.

It will cost you more than that to get a copy now, as the number of retail copies out there is dwindling.

The part nos. for Leopard retail discs were;

MB427Z/A Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD

MB576Z/A Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD

MB021Z/A , MC094Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)

MB022Z/A , MC095Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

Prices on Amazon start at around $150 last time I looked.

On the other hand if your computer meets the specifications, Snow Leopard is only $30 or less from the online Apple Store (no longer available in the high st stores).
