audio books on iPod classic

I have not been able to put an audio book (from a CD) onto my iPod classic. It uploads the tracks just fine, but treats them like regular music tracks. There is nothing in the audio books section on my menu, but all 7 2-hour tracks of the book are nestled in among my music. Any advice?

Change the Media Type for all the audiobook's tracks to Audiobook from under each track's Option tab of its Get Info window in iTunes. You might also want to enable the Skip when Shuffling option as well from under that same tab. After you have made sure these changes, plug your iPod back in and make sure it is configured to sync audiobooks from under the iPod's Books configuration tab. Then resync your device.

planb77, I have the same problem that AngelFinally had. I have a set of 80GB Classics for my 1st grade students and have downloaded FROM ITUNES audio books on to each iPod. I added Audiobooks to the main menu to make it easy for the children to find the books. But it's been frustrating to explain to 6 year olds that when they click on Audiobooks and it says 0 songs, they still need to click to see the list of books. I followed your steps. Everything was set up correctly and I didn't have to change anything. The books are there, but why does it still say 0 songs when they scroll down to Audiobooks? If the books are there, shouldn't it say 21 books?

Are the iPods configured to sync audiobooks from under their Books configuration tab in iTunes. To check this tab, plug your iPod in and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane to bring yourself to the Summary tab. Now locate the Books tab along the top and select it. Here you can configure how and what audiobooks sync to your iPod.

If you do happen to make any changes to the iPods' configurations make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to update the changes to your device.
