Jun 11, 2012 4:10 PM in response to learning lateby japamac,★HelpfulAs with any computer, a wireless adapter is needed.
In a Mac, Apple calls the wireless system Airport Extreme, with the adapter cards being the Airport Extreme card.
There are some special Airport Extreme cards, but most G5s (all except the Late 2005 dual core G5s) use this card:

Once a wireless adapter is installed, then the machine can be configured to connect to a wireless router via System Preferences/Network settings.
USB wireless adapters may also be used, as may PCI wireless adapters.
Late 2005 G5s cannot use PCI adapters as the machines are PCIe.

Jun 11, 2012 4:27 PM in response to learning lateby japamac,★HelpfulSo, in the System profiler/Network/WiFi under Interfaces the Card Type is listed as Airport Extreme?
If installed, open System Preferences/Network and turn Wi-Fi On.
Once it is on, you should be offered the option to connect to an existing network.
Otherwise, configure as described:
