Can't upload website via FTP in iweb

Hi...I've read the following regarding using iweb to upload my website via FTP

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4686?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

I've got all the settings entered correctly and the test button works fine... When I go to publish my site, it seems to be working ok and ends with the screen offering to visit the site (also tried just going there via Safari) I'm using my service provider's space which is supposed to be fully FTP compliant (shaw.ca) but of course their help line will only confirm that my webspace is properly set up and active....understandable no iweb support....when I go to the site it comes up with Shaw's basic templates for creating pages and I can't seem to get around this....

Also I've got to change my registered domain name to redirect it to once I get it working....

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?....I understand that iweb should work fine and I wouldn't need a different FTP program?

Imac with all the latest OS and iweb version etc.....

thanks

imac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

If the domain name isn't forwarde yet, I assume you are using the IP address number in the URL like this...

http://96.0.63.10/

If this doesn't bring up your website it means that the files - in particular the index.html - are not in the root folder. See this page...

Alternatively, you can use an FTP app and upload the files like this...

Its not a very good idea to use a cable provider's service for hosting and you will certainly get way better support elsewhere...
