I have been looking at the iOS 6 preview and have wondered if iPod will get Siri.

I saw down the bottom of the page that the iPod touch 4th gen is compatible with iOS 6.

But I'm not 100% sure that it will run on it. Could someone that is certain tell me?

Also, there is one other thing. A lot of the apps that I download crash on my iPod.

Is it just my iPod or are all 4th Generations like that?

    It will not get Siri.

Could you give me a link that I could read?

You don't need a link. Siri requires hardware that is not available in the iPod Touch. This has been widely covered since the release of the iPhone 4S. It is not dependent on iOS. If you want Siri buy an iPhone 4S.

Well here it says that it will definately be available for the iPad 2, iPad 3rd gen. http://www.apple.com/ios/ios6/#siri

And the products that iOS 6 will be compatible with are iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation, iPad 2, the new iPad. You'll see that at the bottom of the page.

    That's why I'm wondering.

It's not that apple is being mean and not letting you have it, it is that Siri is very processor intensive, the ipod touch fourth generation runs off of the A4 processor.

the iphone 4S runns of of the A5 processor, which is many times more powerful, (and there are a couple of voice recognition chips that have been updated that Siri needs that only appear in the iPhone 4S as of yet).

If you can't get/don't want an iPhone 4S, and want siri that badly, buy the updated ipod touch when it comes out (likely in August) or if you have an iphone 4 (and possibly an iPod touch fourth generation, I have not tested that device with this fix) and don't mind voiding your warranty and frequent access to an iPhone 4S. You can in fact jailbrake the device where you want siri and run a couple of applications on it, then copy a file you need from the 4S and run Siri on the other device

But before you put in all the work do know that Siri is still a beta product and fallable and not perfect, I love her to pieces, but unless you have a specific reason that you need her on your device the work to put her on almost out weighs what she can do for you

In case you haven't looked at the specs, there is a huge difference in an iPad2 or iPad3 and an iPod Touch. Siri is a matter of horsepower, and the Touch doesn't have the horsepower needed. It's that simple. You can argue all you want, but Siri isn't going to be on the iPod Touch 4G.

That isn't what I wanted to hear but thanks anyway.

There was that other question though. Does anyone else have the problem of apps crashing on their iPod 4G?

It seems to happen a fair bit on mine. I'm wondering if it's just mine and if I should take it back.

I have also had a problem with my battery life. Even with all the tips like turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth it only lasts about 5 hours of video instead of 8. And I've only had it for a few months.

Siri will be available only on iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply.

    fine print is a killer...

No, YOU see for yourself. Read the quoted statement from the Apple site that is in several replies in this thread. Other than that, scroll to the very bottom of the page you linked and read the note.
