Q: Just bought a loaded MBP, now theres an upgrade.

So i purchased a 15inch MBP with the 512 SSD. Now like 2 months later theres an update which essentially is what i just bought, with additional upgrades for about $1000 less. Is there anything I can do like update to this new model? I feel like I got ripped off spending so much on what would become obsolete immediately.

Apple has a 14-day return policy. Unfortunately, 60 days is past that. If you're not happy with your MBP any more, you can sell it on eBay, upgrade to the new version, and consider the difference you've paid as the price of renting the laptop for two months.

    Hi E,

I feel for you, but there's always going to be upgrades. Imagine the people who bought just 15 days ago, how they feel.

What upgrades are you looking at?

Meh. how much do you think mine will run for on Ebay?

Well aside from the retina, higher ram, and starting with flash memory. The HDMI support and 3.0 support is great. Oh and its thinner.

    No upgrade path.

    higher ram,

    Can upgrade.

    and starting with flash memory.

    You already have an SSD.

    The HDMI support

    You can  via adapter: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241

    and 3.0 support is great.

I don't believe you have an ExpressCard slot, so no upgrade path.

    Oh and its thinner.

    Obviously no upgrade path.

Computers are always updating... You still have an amazing machine!

I bought my iPad, 2 months before the iPad 2 update.

I am also on the 15 inch MacBook Pro, and I am feeling the same thing...

EDIT: http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/ may be some help to you, if you still want to update...

That MacBook you just bought is still an extremely powerful machine.  It won't be outdated for many years.  I'm still using a 15" MBP from 2008 for our main computer at home.  Upgraded to 8GB RAM, 750GB hybrid SSD/HDD, and Lion.  It's still plenty fast for just about everything I throw at it.

Don't be disappointed by your purchase.  Anyone who's purchased a computer could feel the same way if they look at what's available a little while after they bought it.  Obviously, retina display isn't taking over Macs at this time, because only one model has it available.  It'll be a little while longer before retina screens are on all the Macs.
