1st gen iPad and iOS 6

I'm a first gen iPad user. I don't understand why Apple is completely neglecting us. I can understand holding off on the cooler stuff for the newer iPads but we are the people who helped the iPad turn into what it has. Atleast give us and updated email, safari and stores. Why not? Androids have had those features for awhile. Just give us the second best thing out their. Don't let your three year old product fall behind the pack of android tablets. We paid to much for that. This is an Apple product, people respect that. When people ask us if they should buy an iPad, we don't want to have to say "buy an Android, they care about you even when your device is three years old, Apple forgot about us."

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

This is a user to user forum. Apple is not here. Apple does not respond here.

Many folks come here and curse Apple because the original iPad has issues with iOS 5. iOS 6 would likely be worse. You got what you paid for with the version of iOS that came with your iPad. Everything else has been icing on the cake.

I know, and sorry. I was just a little upset and wanted to see if anyone felt the same way. I sent an email to Apple already. And you're right, I got what I paid for its just this is such a great device that I use everyday. I just hate the thought of replacing it though, especially when it still looks and acts the way it did when I brought it home. I just wish there was some way I could buy into iOS. And the biggest reason I'm upset is that I'm afraid that I won't be able to upgrade my apps once they get into the iOS features. Who knows, maybe in a year or two I'll donate this iPad and buy the new iPad 4 with a built in time machine or whatever crazy thing Apple comes up with next.

Then don't replace it. Is iOS 5 not good enough? Are you not able to live without iOS 6? I see no reason for you to replace it unless you absolutely need iOS 6.

Trust me, there will be hundreds. This forum will be choked with comments in the next couple of weeks and then again when iOS 6 is issued and all the folks who have been oblivious to the issue realize they didn't get the upgrade either.

I'm thinking about getting an iPhone 4S so I'll get a taste of it. I can't imagine what the people who just bought an iPad 1 are going to think when the update comes out. I'm happy with mine though. Honestly, I like the weight and feel way better than the iPad 2. I haven't seen the iPad 3 yet though.

I'm not sure. All I know is that he has a Droid that's like 3 years old and he always talks about how much he likes it and then goes on to call his iPad his baby. We airplayed the keynote today over Apple TV. I missed the new Mac though. I just watched the iOS 6 part of it.

Hold off, there may be a new iPhone in four months time. The new iPad is the same shape as the iPad 2 but a tiny bit thicker and a little heavier for the batteries. And it gets a bit hotter to the touch.

There is always a trade off when you try to make a mobile device more powerful and more capable.

Probably 2.2 or thereabouts. Latest is 4.0 but I don't think his Droid can run that. There will be several features in iOS 6 that will not be available on his version of Android. As the start of the keynote section on iOS 6 showed the updgrade path on Android is chaotic. I would hate to be a developer for that format.

OK, so you waited to view it later.
