This forum topic seems less about helping apple customers than satisfying the egos of a few posters. User of various apple products myself and I thought I would try to get some reasonable options about my ipad 1 as to relevant fixes. If the only suggestion one would have is to buy another product, which I think is one way to remedy the problem, once offered then back off so that others can try to find resolution for the poster and those with similar issues. I dont see how badgering is conducive to a civil discourse to others with needs. Replacing a product is a superior, if one has bank like that, but many of us are with apple because we are willing to budget to get a great product.
Insisting that those of us who would like our expensive equipment to be upgradable in the long run (5 years is NOT an outlandish desire) are whiners is mean spirited and does not peak to the posters initial concerns. Getting longevity of use is not new, what is new is the idea of disposabilitty of cherished appliances to meet the profit motives of business and a vain culture whose esteem seems based on the acquisition of newer and and newer THINGS.
Have disdain for people less financial able if we wish but our comments say more about us and intolerance for those who admit to being human than it does about seekers of assistance. I think it is far to ask those of us who are unable to see beyond our own values tho allow others with ideas to express them without derirision.
Freedom of speech asside, how exactly does bullying people to go to competitors of apple help Apple the business? Are we here to help or simply make ourselves feel better by knocking those looking for other answers.
Not sure I will be seeking answers here again,
