ipod touch identifies but cannot join Virginmedia superhub. What to do?

My iPod touch 4th generation can identify our new Virginmedia wi-fi Superhub. It cannot, however, connect to it; just keeps the wheel whirling round. Can anyone advise resolution method?

- Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Power off and then back on the router

- Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

BTW, if your router is only using 5 GHz, the iPod will not see that nework so that is not your problem.
