Music track just bleeps when added to timeline

Strange and this didn't happen before but however I add the music track to the timeline (which is imported from Itunes) its just makes bleeping noises when I play it. When I move the cursor over it I can hear the music and when I double click and play it in the review window I can hear the music but not on the timeline/in the right hand viewer. Have tried rendering... any ideas? I'm getting v frustrated.

Hi

Audio must be in same format as in FC-project e.g. .aiff 48kHz

In iTune I always collect needed audio into a New Playlist then burn this as an Audio-CD (.aiff - NOT .mp3) and then I use the files on this CD in my movie projects (I first copy them into the Project folder - so that I don't need to keep CD in all time)

You can under Selections Render Audio - and this will temporarily help - till next change in timeline.

But with audio in proper format - You don't need to render so many times.

it's a breeze. Launch compressor which hopefully you installed when you installed fcp. Go to the settings window. In the apple presets, in the formats folder, in the audio folder you'll find a preset aiff.48:16. Control click on it and save as droplet. This creates a mini "program" that you can just drag your audio files on top of to convert.

Post back if any of this doesn't make sense. Here are some tips for using compressor

Hi Rachel,

Go to itunes preferences/ import settings.

Change "import using" to AIFF Encoder.

Change "setting" to "custom" and change "sample rate" to 48.000kHZ

"Sample size" to 16 bit and Channels "auto" click OK

Then find your music track and select it.

On the top menu bar select "advanced" and select "Create AIFF Version"

In a matter of seconds you will see an AIFF version of your song below the original.

Import that file from your itunes library into FCP.

Don't forget to change your i tunes prefs back to default to go back to importing MP3
