Q: Macbook RAM general Question... advice please!

Hi All,

I've recently started to notice that my Macbook slows when using certain applications (specifically iPhoto and very much so with iMovie) and am thinking of upgrading the RAM, this is something that I've done before without much dificulty with a previous Macbook, however, my current model (latest white Macbook) doesn't have the removable battery and appears to be a little trickier to install. My questions are -

1. Is installing it this type of Macbook as simple as with previous versions albeit with the need to remove the entire bottom case?

2. I'm unsure how much i should upgrade, I only use my Macbook for basic(ish) functions such as browsing, streaming media, watching movies, occasional dabble with iPhoto and maybe a touch of editing in iMovie. Is it the general consensus that the more RAM the better and therefore i should install the maximum how i use the Macbook but i'd really appreciate some advice as the 4GB RAM modules are costly and I'd like to avoid overdoing it.

I'd really appreciate any help or guidance that you may be able to offer.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
