Kernel panic after EFI firmware update

Hi, today I've got the notification to install several updates via Software Update, includi EFI firmware.

After the download, reboot happened, then I have got a message saying that none of the updates were installed.

Then my iMac (27" mid 2011) hang and I had to reboot manually.

Now i have a kernel panic at each startup.

I have Lion installed, but Snow Leopard DVD. I have no wireless and my ethernet connection is unavailable when I try to recover Lion.

Is there a way to reset EFI firmware to the previous working version?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is a late reply, but with the EFI update from 30.06.2015 for my iMac 27" running with 10.8.5 i ran into the same problem.

After some thinking i found the cause for this problem. Somehow the System forgot which was the selected startvolume. So holding down the ALT Key during boot up brought up the Menu. Choosing the right disk brought things back to normal.

My system has 2 internal HDDs.
