I am very annoyed at apple. what a way to treat their customers. I bought the top of the range I Pad one and now I find there are lots of apps that will not work correctly (even although I paid for some of these!).
I assume this is simply apples way of slowly pushing I Pad one users out of circulation and then they will be hoping that it will mean another sale for them when users are forced to upgrade - I will not be one of those customers. There are many other products to chose from and I will be making the switch as i hope many other do and show apple whi is in control of the market.
So annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ASSUME YOU ARE AN APPLE EMPLOYEE WITH A RESPONSE LIKE THAT ?
TWO YEARS ! I SPENT A LOT OF HARD EARNED CASH TO BUY MY FIRST I PAD (£700) AND HERE YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY THAT I SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT APPLE SUPPORTS THE DEVICE FOR TWO YEARS! I THINK MAY USERS LIKE ME WILL BE OFFENDED BY YOUR ATTITUDE!

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple employees don't participate here. You can be as offended as you like but, it doesn't appear that tpulak said anything that violates the Terms of Use of these forums. In my personal opinion, tpulak gave a pretty reasoned response.
By the way, typing all in caps is considered shouting and is offensive to many of us.
Very Frustrating Apple doesn't take care of the problems introduced in IOS 5.0.1 in the first place.
The apple store is very buggy, crashes a lot, Safari browser is slow, very slow.
I hoped for ios6 to fix these issues, but Apple leaves us in the cold..., was intending to buy the ipad mini, but i'm going to skip that one for now, because I think it will go the same path as the ipad now.
The ipad mini is also build on old hardware (ipad 2's A5)...😠
You know, this is a support site. People wonder how to do something. How to use something and how to make it work right. No, I'm not an Apple employee. But sometimes I ask a question here and get an answer. Just from a Mac head. I see a question and I know the answer and freely give it. It's a valuable resource. But we're not here to get you to love Apple. You want to know how to fix something, great. You want to take out some feelings at Apple, well, feel free. But I'm going to stop the text forwarding from this thread, because I'm out.
I've converted from a Galaxy S(due to some issues with the phone) to an iPhone, just this past September, I have an iPhone 4S, I was so happy with it, I don't like change but I was surprised how much I love the iPhone. I convinced my Mother to convert from android tablets to iPads, Since the 1st Generations are still being sold we just bought 4 of them for the kids just a week ago. Now to find out they are not getting an update just makes me sick to my stomach. Once you go Apple you see how great it really is, and this will cause people wanting to take a risk and convert to experience it to just stay with an android. This is very sad to hear. Looks like we will be selling the children's iPads on eBay soon as possible and going back to Android. Apple products seem to hold their value even over time, or so it seemed anyway, I wish this would continue to be true. This is an eye opener, and I feel the value of Apple products will start to decrease rapidly from this point on. Im not saying this is true this is just one individuals opinion, but I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels this way. My whole family does at this point. Just when we were able to afford all the kids iPads and allow them to fall in love, they are no good. What could have been an growing Apple family, is now back to android for good it seems. :-(
It wouldn't be so bad if you could at least downgrade to iOS 4. I didn't have any problems with iOS 4. But then came iOS 5, which has hosed my iPad 1. It constantly crashes. Especially with browsers. (So much for the ultimate web browsing experience!). Now I can't downgrade, and I can't upgrade. I'm stuck on a demonstratably horrible iOS version. I can't even sync anymore - I've had to move to 3rd party software. Same with my iPhone.
My next tablet will not be an Apple tablet. My next smartphone will not be Apple. Too bad. I loved their hardware, but their corporate policies screw over their customers. 'Bye, Apple!

@Steve69- it's not about downgrading the OS back to iOS4. Many of us want iOS6 mainly because developers are starting to block iOS5 devices from their software. Like I said before, I have already lost an app which I duly paid for (Cut The Rope HD) over the fact that the developers no longer want to support iOS5, and Apple doesn't entertain refund requests. I lost access to another app (Ashens) a few days later for no good reason as well.
And oh, the iPad4 isn't launched in Malaysia. Apparently we won't be getting it until next year according to the Apple dealers I've talked to. But it launched on the same day as the US in Singapore. So I guess by the time an iPad4 reaches Malaysian shores, it would be 3 months after US/UK/Hong Kong/Singapore launch and thus we get three months less of enjoyment out of the device. Nice way to screw us over, Apple.
Btw, I was about to sell off my kidney as planned, just so I can somehow import an iPad4, but my uncle in Singapore heard me talking about it on Facebook and quickly sent me iPad4 from Singapore just so I don't do anything stupid.
I also find Apple's excuse for not launching the iPhone5 in Malaysia stupid. According to a local tabloid, Apple refuses to launch the iPhone5 in Malaysia because we don't have 4G LTE yet. How is that different from Australia or Singapore, where although they have 4G LTE, the operating frequency doesn't even match up with those of the iPhone5?
1. If you have lost access to an App, that is the developer's fault, not Apple's.
2. If you receive all devices 3 months late, you do not miss three months of 'enjoyment', since you still receive the full year out of it.
3. Joke about your kidney? Not even remotely funny.
4. iPhone 5 does match the 4G frequency's in Australia and Singapore, research on the Australian or Singaporean store would have revealed the fact that there are two GSM models of the iPhone 5 and a CDMA version. One GSM and CDMA are for US and Canada, and then the other GSM model is used for rest of the world that have carriers supported by Apple (including Singapore and Australia).
"1. If you have lost access to an App, that is the developer's fault, not Apple's."
I'm sorry, but I do not agree. Apple chose to make the iPad a walled garden, so they're also responsible for this if only partially. They could've at least force the developer to fork and make one version of the app iOS6 and above only and maintain iOS5 compatibility for older devices on the original code. Heck I cannot even see what's so great about the latest version of Cut The Rope and Ashens that require the developers to drop iOS5 support (in the case of the Ashens app, the developer claims that they have to drop iOS5 support to support the iPhone5's resolution. This doesn't make sense to me as I am learning to develop for iOS, and as far as I know, adding iPhone5 support to an app does not require you to drop support for iOS5).
"2. If you receive all devices 3 months late, you do not miss three months of 'enjoyment', since you still receive the full year out of it."
Again, sorry but I do not agree. If I do not miss three months of enjoyment out of it, the two apps that have ceased to update on iPads in the countries that gets the new iPad early will have still to work and receive updates for me until three months later. Read: my iPad1 should've still receive iOS6, and/or the said two apps will still update and run on my iPad1 (but not the iPad1 in countries who got the iPad4 early).
"4. iPhone 5 does match the 4G frequency's in Australia and Singapore, research on the Australian or Singaporean store would have revealed the fact that there are two GSM models of the iPhone 5 and a CDMA version. It still comes across to me as unfair. We already have DC-HSPA+ on two Cell ISPs, which is just as fast as any self-respecting LTE 4G services in other countries (one ISP offers speeds as high as 42Mbps on their DC-HSPA+ network). It's completely unfounded to not launch a phone just because the country doesn't have the latest infrastructure yet, when the phone works fine with the existing 3.9/3.75/3.5/3/2G Architecture. Besides, it's already confirmed that one of the bands used by LTE 4G in Malaysia will be the same as Singapore to allow for Singaporeans to roam in the country anyway, when the government finally approves for LTE to be turned on early next year.
And on top of that, I cannot see why Apple cannot just launch the non-4G iPad4 in Malaysia first like they did in Thailand. Besides, we got the latest iPod with Lightning Connector on it's launch day.
October 16. Close 649.79 US$
November 21 Close 561.70 US$
Maybe a coincidence, maybe not............................
Maybe not direct cause and effect but undoubtedly both stemming from the same decay.

Fed up with ITunes Match not properly streaming (iOS 6 would cure that!). Fed up with losing Music Videos that I did not purchase from Apple Store (not cured by iOS 6!) as iTunes Match deletes them from my iPad 1. Just placed a phone order for a Kindle Fire HD via my Samsung Galaxy SIII. will do all else on my PC. May continue to play solitaire on my iPad 1 until developer disables it on iOS 5.......
meh, you can jailbreak the iPad1 now and not worry about performance issues and even violating any Terms because its not a supported item anymore. TO say otherwise would be flat out buggery and easily defended.
So take the iPad1 on a nice trek, and use it for the next 2-3 yrs. By that time a decent replacement will be out that you will want and will pony up the quid to get one yeah? Ipad 3 does nothing for me. The MBP has an installed camera. What silly git wants to facetime in a mall somewhere anyway?
