Your posts are being deleted because you agreed that you would use this forum for Technical Support, and that it is not a forum for the discussion of business or strategic concerns. There are plenty of appropriate forums to use for that. Since you are in violation of the terms of use you agreed to in order to post here, you should consider yourself lucky you're still being allowed to post at all.

Ahhh an Apple sheeple!!! This forum is about ios 6 not being compatible for ipad one which it is called Planned Obsolescence, it’s called a discussion and since Apple has a lot to hide they do not want anyone else jumping on the same ship!

Believe me I am not lucky that I am still being allowed to post, Apple is not my world!

I do not praise apple, I do not thank god I am still allowed to post on Apples website. I actually have a life and I do not worship Apple like it is my lord and savior.

With that being said, I purchased my ipad brand new and I will express my opinion anytime I please and do not need your Apple Worshipper support to do it!

I can have this conversation with you elsewhere, and haven't even disagreed with you. I just suggested that this is not the forum for it. Your response is to call me sheeple when I haven't even stated a position. You prove that you're only literate enough to know that you didn't like what you read so you should call people names. I don't go to your marketing forums for tech support, but you come to a tech support forum to whine about business decisions. If you have the energy and intelligence to engage in the discussion, go have it where it might make a difference.

With the tone in prior posts here it seems like it was not just limited to just technical aspects. My main issue is that I have had my XBOX for 6 years and Micrtosoft has updated the software about once a year. Now my Xbox has never had any type of hardware changes, except now it looks like WIndows 8 and I can surf the internet watch netflix, hulu, etc.

Apple is sliding like it did in the 1980's when they also forgot to keep the customer's perspective. In times of crisis, they render barely 2 year old devices obsolete whilst not thinking that customers may not be able to afford a new iPad. There is a whole lot of nasty words popping up in my mind now, but alas it is not my style two convene them.

Just do not buy Apple anymore, any device you buy now, will be terminated by Apple within the next 2 years. So much for sustainability...

I agree with ABC CEO and Djayed. Apple is sliding and it is starting to show in the market. Other more caring companies are creating similar product with the consumer in mind. We all hail innovation and moving forward, but at what expence. We ipad1 owner are not looking for Apple to give us a camera or retina display, we simply want them to support a product they created not long ago and to live up to product support. We are not looking for them to support the product indeffinatly but at least 5 years would be a good start. I am sorry but as you plan to make things obsolute I hope that you have also planned for customers to be dissapionted and drop off. All we want is for Apple to do the right thing by the consumer and to not assume we can all afford to upgrade our units. You have no idea what it took for us to get them in the first place. They are not a disposable piece of electronics. JUst do the right thing Apple!!

So what you saying is that apple should listen to you. And keep things from going obsolete. Because not everyone wants a camera or retina display on their iPad. Ok then what will keep ppl coming back for better products if the product is built the same. That's the problem with people and the iOS with apple. People leaving for android cuz apple keeping it simple. But soon as apple come Witt the 4.7 inch screen everyone is jumping back on ship. Now for your complaint. All products get out dated. Cars, Tvs, microwaves. Everything changes, hardware and software, hopefully for the better. And I have an iPad 2 cuz I didn't want the iPad, simple because it didn't come with a camera. So I waited, you had that choice to. You really don't have to be the first person with the product to get notice.

Feb 5, 2013 12:18 PM in response to knighthere

Well knighthere, lucky that you bought an iPad 2 that remains supported for now; but how will you feel when Apple stop supporting IOS upgrades for that device after June this year, and then all the apps that you also bought slowly stop working as they update those to meet the needs of the new OS. Perhaps at that time you will be unhappy too and start to consider whether you will buy the iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 or any number of Android based tablets. That is all that people are doing here...

I agree with you about the apps. I have had 2 ipods (one still functional), an ipod touch (lost), a macbook air (2008 but still works like a dream), an ipad, a macbook pro (new), and now an ipad mini. I was so excited to add some awesome apps to my ipad mini and was even more excited when i saw that they were going to automatically go to my ipad 1 as well (it was a note taking program and lets be honest, the bigger screen would have been better for taking notes) but then i come to discover that the app requires ios 6 to work and mine will only go as high as 5.1.1. While yes, currently most of my apps work, soon they will not, and i will have an otherwise perfectly functional (still beautiful) ipad that i cant do anything with.

I would really hope that apple reconsideres this. I would even pay for the upgrade at this point, just so that i dont feel like my previous $600+ were spent in vain. Make it like the other software upgrades I'll pay the $20 to go from lion to mountain lion, so why wouldnt I pay to allow myself to have other upgrades. That being said, I'm not willing to shell out 20 every time they go from 5.1.1 to 5.1.2.....but maybe from 5 to 6 or 6 to 7.....
