Hey Richie,

Well I guarantee Im not using '<E-mail Edited by Host>', but its good to see someone from Apple MUST be looking at these posts on some level at least since they bothered to edit the address out. Unless it was just a BOT.

But YES, I did use the email address you formerly posted. Whether Mr Cook reads it or not I just hope someone, somewhere up there reads its and understands the sentiment enough to act on it. As long as its not just another BOT! ;-)

The only reason the Hosts (the only Apple employees who regularly participate here) looked at your post was to delete information that was deemed inappropriate. They weren't interested in your concerns regarding Apple's policies. The correct place to give suggestions to Apple is the Feedback page:

Hi Meg.

Just to correct two points.

I never said Apple had read my post. I said it was good to see that Apple must be looking at these posts on some level. So, if their only interest is to edit out an email address and they're 'not interested' in my concerns, I think they're rather missing the value of their own discussion boards, dont you? Why spend billions on R&D but not even pay a bunch of college leavers to regularly root thru your discussion boards to pull out any recurring or interesting issues? Hmm. I can hardly believe they'd be that silly. They're pretty smart.

Also, they didnt delete any information deemed inappropriate from my post, as I didnt post any. That was from Richie.abc's post re the boss's email address.

The correct place to make suggestions may well be the Apple Feedback page. However, thats incredibly impersonal and to most people probably feels like dropping an email into a giant black hole. Issues which are already being swept under the carpet as a company policy (or maybe becasue of a lack of compay policy on such matters!) are hardly likely to make it under the CEO's nose going that route.

True, this route may neither, but you never know, with a bit of luck, said CEO may get to see it and understand there is a bit of a groundswell on this issue. There is a lot of crap discussed on these forums, but this one just 'feels wrong' in the pit of my stomach on Apple's part, a system which actively does away with your purchased apps. Hmm thats got to become an issue at some point which needs dealing with.

Having said all that, I will send it via Feedback also, just to see what happens.

No, I don't think theyre making an unwise use of the boards at all. The amount of manpower required to read these forums and glean much useful information would be enormous and could better be spent doing lots of other things. It makes much more sense for them to look primarily at the neatly cateogorized information from the Feedback page.

And, as nothing was removed from your posts, yours were probably never looked at at all.

The boards are a very clever way to get people to provide free technical support so Apple doesn't need to do as much Tier 1. And at that, it's extremely effective.

I guess you dont make it to 'Level 7' for nothing, but maybe you missed something...

I never said my post was looked at in the first place. I have never said that. I then reiterated that again in my reply.

So, just for absolute clarity, let me reiterate one last time, as I need to go and do more productive things than this with my life: I will also send this issue via Feedback. So, there, you can rest easy that you have done your job, uphelpd Apple's honour admirably and managed to get another Apple customer back into line and do as they are jolly well told. Well done.

Hi, what Apple and their overzealous followers don't understand, as don't Blackberry, and in the UK, Clinton Cards, Blacks, HMV and Jessops, is that if enough people are saying it, then whether it has merit or not in the logical sense is irrelavant. People feel this way. If you are a true Apple fan, you will see this issue for the PR and genuine problem it is 'FOR US', and support us in ensuring that Apple address it.

I was told, face to face, at a Genius Bar, 'this is purposeful redundancy by the back door', by an Apple employee, and given $300 off any new Ipad on the spot, valid until June. I bought a 64gb Ipad 1, but why would I spend another $600, just in case this 2 year redundancy is a habit they intend to keep.

And they DO LOOK AT THESE POSTS, because when I unknowingly broke the rules of posting by suggesting we start a customer service URL, I was told my post was removed, directed to The Rules, and throughly told off.

In most things I am a complete pacifist, but customer service and building a business on offering exactly what customers expect and delivering it, is something I am a fan of, and so while Apple have the funds from all the new purchasers, I would be good for its reputation, to simply not have this redundancy fact in the public domain.

PS. to non-Brits, apart from Blackberry, all of Clinton, Blacks, HMV, and Jessops, were ALL market leaders who owned the market at the head of their industry, who ignored customer feedback, and who all went into liquidation as a result of innovative competition and lack of addressing the problem of complacency.

The car anaology, would need to be, that 'yes, YOU look after it', but what would you do, if the light manufacturers decided that they would only now provide 24volt lights, and filters for the air conditioning, ONLY for the new models.

If all your circuits blew, and the garage ripped out the old electrics, you would come back and be told that you could no longer use those lights, and no longer use the air conditioning, as yours are no longer supported.

If you want to use THOSE types of lights again, you need to buy a new car!

That is an accurate and not extreme analogy.

But here's a question!

What happens in the auto industry, when a part, or a bit of software fails in a large group of vehicles? That's right-recall!!

Yes, they look at these posts when someone reports them for a violation of the Terms of Use. Users Level 2 and above have the ability to do that. But, unless someone brings the post to the attention of the Hosts by using the Report option, they are not reading them.
