Is there a smart dialer or T9 dialer for iPhone?
I am tired of scolling through all my phone numbers just to find someone. Will apple support android's already stock smart dialer and T9 dialer? Is there an app for that?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

As has been explained, Apple is not reading here. If you want them to listen to you, submit feedback here:
UnLike Andriod, Iphone doesn't support T9 or Dialer Alphabets to help dial frequently. I may quit Iphone, I am very annoyed. Few would say, come out of orthodox, but I would love somethings being Orthodox.
This simple update is the thing that pushing me away from the iphone and towards Google's Pixel or the Note 8. It just seems like besides the T9 smart dialer and Siri (which completely *****!) Apple is going to lose a lot of customers. I mean come on team, try "ok google" Android's dialer. They are crushing the game. Apple get your act together and listen to your customers!

Apple is clearly listening to their customers, as there are well over 1 billion who have bought iPhones who don't feel they need 1990's workaround technology on their phones. As to losing customers, really? Apple was the top smartphone in sales in the last quarter.
T9 was a great idea when you only had 10 buttons and no contact database, but this is the third millennium.
And this my friend is my point!
Maybe the reason Apple is piecing functionality together and Samsung has developed the largest smartphone selling strategy is because of people like you. I don't care if it was 1950s technology, if it works for most on the android system (look at their numbers) then it must be something to it. It is strange that everytime someone speaks their mind in regards to Apple products they get attacked by individuals speaking discombobulated tech jargon: as if I am not a Data Scientist...
Apple's approach seems to work for over a billion users. If it doesn't work for you, then of course you should purchase the device that best meets your needs. I think I can safely predict that Apple will never support T9, so that will exclude the .0001% of users who require it from Apple's market.
Lawrence Finch do you work for Apple or something. I started to walk away from this thread but find your responses to everyone who has a question or concern about Apple's horrible dialer (in my opinion) appalling. Why are you defending Apple so much on the issue that others have raised about the T9 dialer. Obviously, if someone cared enough to write here about and not directly to Apple they are just voicing their concern: either help, take your hat off or get out of the way!

No one in this thread works for Apple. And everyone in this thread is entitled to their opinion, as lono as they express it in a way that doesn't violate the Terms of Use to which we all agreed when we signed up. If that means someone states that they agree with a decision that Apple made, that's their choice. It also doesn't necessarily mean their defending anything but their own opinion.
I agree with Lawrence. T9 is pointless and unncessary in this century. And, if Apple implemented it, you can be certain I would not be "defending" them for such a change. You are free to agree or not agree with me. What I find even more ridiculous than T9 is the idea that someone would switch phones because someone else expressed an opinioned with which they disagreed. But, once again, that's your choice.
Best of luck.
I NEVER scroll through all my phone numbers. I use the Search box at the top of the contact list, or tap the index on the right side of the contact list. And the contacts I call or text regularly are in my Favorites.
There are many Contacts apps in the apps store. Not sure if they do what you want.
Try using the Search at the top of Contacts or the Alphabet on the side.
Scroll through contacts? I have thousands of contacts. I would still have to scroll with "Smart Dial". Just start typing anything that will match any of the text in their contact entry like first or last names, company names, comments in the notes, whatever. Even their number. I don't have time to scroll through that many contacts. And you can use "smart searching" system wide, not just to dial a number.
So not only is it supported, it's vastly improved upon.
GENIUS DIALER!!!!!
By far the best one our there. GIve youa free trial, and the full version is only a couple bucks. I serioulsy don't know why this isn't a feature built in to the iPhone already???
I totally agree. SmartDial / T9 is a standard in most Android phones, BlackBerries and even 3 years old Symbain-based Nokia phones...I just don't get it why it is not yet done in iPhone?! 5 yeras on the martket and nothing like that.... I was really disappointed when started using my iPhone 5 which doesn't have this feature...
Sometimes I have a feeling that Apple treats its users as idiots and do not implement some features in purpose. If some users are not so advanced and would be confused to see contact names when dialing a number - I'd solve this as an option that I may enable in Settings.
I'd really love to see this feature in my iPhone. . It's sooooo must-have in a modern phone and so robust... Favourites is not a real solution. THere is a 3rd party app - iCaller, but it anyway uses native iPhone dialer...
And sometimes idiots think a 10+ year old "feature" is advanced just because Android has it. Learn how to use your phone correctly instead of grasping onto useless and antiquated workarounds for old flip phones with just a number pad and 5 lines of text.
