Does anyone know why my MacMini and Apple zip drive won't recognize DVD's?

Hi!

My MacMini and zip drive combination keeps spitting out my DVD's. This is the first time that this has happened. I thought that I should first open the DVD Player application but that didn't help. I'm very frustrated wth this computer, as I've had other problems with CD's downloading as noise and tracks on CD's not being recognized. Anyway, I have an appointment for tomorrow June the 13th at my local Apple store.
