Any thoughts on Rapid Weaver 5 ?

I just looked at some of the features and it look like it could be good for someone

who has used iweb. It has the FTP upload like iweb'09. Thanks for your feedback.

RapidWeaver is also template based and you can't start with a blank template. It has no import facility and can cost more because of lot of other things that you need are extras and not standard as Roddy has already pointed out.

Download the free trial before you purchase, but perhaps something like Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Expresss or Flux 4 might be a better alternative.

I've looked at SandVox and RapidWeaver, and neither of them are anything like as easy to use as iWeb, or it's predecessor Claris HomePage.

Why on earth are Apple abandoning this sector of the iLife suite, when they were clearly so good at making things simple for users?

Surely this was the philosophy on which the company was built by the late Steve Jobs?

Apple have abandoned iWeb because it was only really a selling feature for and to promote .Mac and then MobileMe and now MobileMe will be no longer at the end of June this year there is no need for iWeb any longer as iCloud will NOT host websites and Apple seem to be moving away from that, so no reason to keep iWeb.

There are other alternatives out there and RapidWeaver and Sandvox are not the only ones. Take a look at Freeway Pro/Express, Goldfish and Flux 4.

You can also stick with iWeb - it will still work and won't stop just because MobileMe goes away.
