Latest Aperture update - all icons on toolbar now grey
The latest update to Aperture has left me with all icons in grey, there is no colour. Everything still works but it all looks very dull!

That is the new design, fits nicely in with MacOS Lion.
You are not alone with your opinion:

Sounds like progress! Let's hope there is no more like this in Mountain Lion!!

Have a glimpse of Mountain Lion on the OS X Mountain Lion Page
If you watch the Mountain Lion video, you can see for yourself what the GUI will be like.

Thanks.
Change Inferface as monochromatic to color aperture 3.3

Many thanks for that link but is there one in English?
Monochrome icons don't fit nicely with any modern software or OS...
I get it...reduce the color distractions. That's OK, but LET ME PICK! What would it have taken to put a check box "Show monochrome icons" under Preferences | Appearance and re-paint the UI? Couple days development (worst case) and a day of QA. Give me a break. Clearly Steve wasn't involved in this decision.
Steve "Any device with a sytlus is a failure" or Steve "No mouse should have more than one button"? Or was it Steve "NeXT"?
The guys working on a water dispersant did not start with WD39.
:-)
As for your point -- it's a good one (I was making fun of how you made it). If you want Apple to hear, though, you must speak in the ear they designate: "Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback".
(Sent from my magic glass.)
Peter,
The icons are just TIFFs in the Resources Folder (control click Aperture, show package contents, resources folder ... just replace the monochrome TIFFs with the colour ones from a Time Machine version pre 3.3). I noted that there are now x2 TIFFs - presumably for the Retina display - you will not have colour versions of these.
Many thanks perthmacuser. Should I copy across all TIFFs?
regards
Peter
Peter,
I am always on the lookout for Murphy, and so:
I put a copy of the resources folder on my desktop (can always go back to the default 3.3 icons)
I then copied over the individual icons I wanted from my earlier version to the 3.3 resources folder - for me , this was the smart album, the new smart album TIFFs, the Album and new album TIFFs etc
Just open Aperture and there they are.
Could probably just copy the lot (and revert to the saved copy of 3.3 resources folder if needed), but I didn't.
Could probably save the set in a separate "colour icons" folder in case this needs to be done again with upgrades to Aperture.
Such a simple work around Apple will surely make this an option in a new release.
Cheers,
M.
Hi, this is for Kirby Krieger or anyone who can send me the link to let Apple know I'd like to see coloured icons back in Aperture for future releases.
(I couldn't find "Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback" path anywhere in the discussions forums but am likely not looking in the right place.....😕)
Thanks,
Melissa T.
Totally agree with all suggestions to bring back coloured icons. B&W icons make it feel so cheap & drab.
I hate the grey look. Makes the folder, projects, and albums all blend together for almost no point in sorting them. I have submitted feedback and hope all the others who want the old look back (or at least an option for it) to submit also.

The format "Menu top-level item➞Menu drop-down item➞Menu fly-out item" has been used.
Click "Aperture" in the Menu Bar while Aperture is the active application, then click "Provide Aperture Feedback".
