Is it safe to release my serial number to someone who is interested in buying my laptop?

Someone wants to buy my older 13" MacBook Pro and they requested my serial number to verify the age and warranty of the laptop, is it safe to release that information? Can my serial number be leaked to any of my personal information?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

The only thing they need to know to verify the age of a computer is what the System Profiler tells them. For instance, the model identifier for my Mac Pro is MacPro5,1 .

Put that into Google and the top link is for a site called everymac, and shows this information for that identifier. Note that they are all various 2010 Mac Pro models, which is correct.

If they don't believe you after that, to heck with that buyer. Ignore them.
