Q: Photo Quality

When using the Camera Connection Kit to import my photos to my iPad, does the photo quality change? I am merely wondering if I on say a trip, import photos to my iPad, can I still import to my Mac from my iPad and get the same file quality and photos as I would from importing directly to mac from my camera in the first place?
