How do I get a photo to fully display in iMovie on the new iPad?

Question

I can add the photo fine but it will only display about half of it at any one time.

I can transition from the top to the bottom of the photo but I really want to display the whole thing at once.

Sadly there is no way.

Other editing apps do allow black bars on screen, but iMovie does not.
