How do I put an emoji icon into a Pages document? Most of the other Characters transfer (not all) but not emoji.

I just found a way to add emojis to pages. What you have to do is guess what the key word of the emoji you and it will on the automatic/suggestion bar above the keyboard. E.g. Happy= 😊. You just have to guess what the key word is and hope it comes up. I hope this was helpful.

Can't you just do it the way everyone else does, by doing Edit > Emoji & Symbols and then picking out the one you want from the panel that comes up?

You may find there is no Edit menu. Tom's comments are regarding Pages for Mac, which is appropriate as this is the Pages for Mac community.

The iOS versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote have their own community here on Apple Support Communities. It's called iWork for iOS.

I don't know why the emoji characters aren't supported in Pages, but this has been discussed here before and so far, no solution except to use another application, such as TextEdit, Bean, etc., if you must have that font. I think I remember one comment that posited a reason for the lack of support in Pages but it went over my head. Best to use Feedback in the Pages menu to report your need.

Apple's Color Emoji font is special and non-standard in certain ways, and for some reason they have never updated Pages to display it. You can do Emoji if you will use an ordiinary black/white font like Symbola.

Emoji comes up in Pages if you open "Sepcial Characters" in the Edit Menu. So if it comes up in Pages why doesn't it work in pages!!! And that is why I dislike Pages! Fluky!

In OS X 10.11 El Capitan (it may work for other releases but El Capitan is the only one I've tried it in) you can put in emoji by pressing [Cmd] + [Ctrl] + [Space]. This will open the emoji picker. Hope this helped!

All that does is launch the Character (Emoji and Symbols) panel, where you have to choose the Emoji category. Then you double-click on a particular emoji or symbol to insert it into the current Pages document. Tested on El Capitan with Pages v5.5.3.

This discussion is from 3 years ago and relates to the old version of Pages which cannot display emoji.
