Q: I have microsoft 365 and my contacts are duplicating.  I have tried everything.  The genuis bar said they could not help me. Any suggestions?

I have an iPhone4S.  The company I work for uses microsoft 365.  My contacts are constantly duplicating.  Can someone please help?  I can't turn off "contacts" and stop them from continuing to sync becuase it will erase all of my contacts on my phone. Is there a way to back up or export my contacts on my phone, turn off syncing contacts and import?  Please help!  This is so frustrating.  All ideas are appreciated!

Not sure if this will work, but you could try the app My Contacts Backup.  This will back up your contacts as an email attachement.  Send the email to yourself.  Then turn off contacts syncing (to erase the contacts from your phone), open the email and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts to your phone.  You will still have to go through them and remove the duplicates but at least they should not be duplicated again.  (There is an app called

Remove Duplicate Contacts and Events that claims to be able to find and remove duplicates but you'll have to read the reviews in the app store to decide if you want to try it.)

I just want to thank you so much for your help.  It worked. I hope someday Apple can figure out the problems with Microsoft 365 and contacts but for now this will work.  Again, very much appreciated!

Having read this I rpesume that you no. Longer sync with the Microsoft365 contacts, that the process above simply creates a copy at a point in time and updates to contacts on iphone don't get updated to 365 and viceversa?
