How do I delete edited photographs

I'm having real difficulty with using i-photo on the I-pad. For instance, I cannot delete a pic once I've edited it. It just sits there and there's no way of getting rid of it. I have worked out that to delete something on photo stream I have to do it through the MacBook but goodness know why. Is there an I-photo guide apart from the app that's an audio guide and drives me nuts? Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Tom. I can delete by opening the photos app following the instructions in the links you've kindly provided. But what I still can't do is delete them via I-photo. I know this sounds weird, but the pics in I-photo are different. There are six I can't delete in I-photo and the odd thing is that I took them with th I-pad and then by mistake pressed the edit button. So it is specifically edited pics in I-photo that's giving me problems. Is it me?
