deleting a user account - taking a very long time

I chose to delete a new user account that came over as part of a migration from my old MBP to a new MBP. It was a firly large account but it is taking way longer than the time it took to migrate over. There is no progress bar or time estimate so it's hard to know what's going on. Any ideas?
