I tried to update my iphone 4. It said it couldn't because the "firmware was not compatible." I'm terrible at this. Can anyone tell me what I'm supposed to do please?

The thing I don't understand is that my fiancee is able to update his iphone 3GS in the same computer no problem. What gives?
