My iphone 4s wont connect to itunes properly

I know this question has been asked alot but i havent solved the problem yet and i need more ideas as to what is wrong. For some reason my Iphone 4s which i have had for a month now has stopped connecting to itunes properly. It does sometimes sync but most of the time it takes a good hour or so for it to appear in itunes. Its recognised on the computer when i plug it in and charges and everything but it just doesnt come up in Itunes.

Sometimes it says that it cannot be synced because the apple mobile device has not started but when i start it, it doesnt make any difference. It doesnt cannect with my home Wi-Fi properly either so maybe thats the problem? And just yesterday i updated my itunes to 10.6? or something like that so i dont think that is the problem.

Ive also tried restarted my Wi-Fi connection, my iPhone, my computer and re-intalling iTunes.

someone help because the insurance hasnt come through yet and i cant afford for it to break now!
