Video Lag on iPad

Hi all,

Just got a new Ipad and I copied some of my DVDs to it for viewing. I am enjoying everything but there seems to be a bit of a lag when I play the video. It happens consistently during the videos and is consistent on the other videos I have copied to the iPad as well. If I stream a video from YouTube or somethinng like that it is perfect. Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this?

Thanks,
Rick

I used Fab to Copy the DVD to my laptop and then I used FreeMake to convert it to an ipad format. Is there a better free software I can use to do this that has been tried before?

Also, regarding the settings, I am an admitted novice on this, which settings should I adjust to reduce the demand on the system.

I appreciate the suggestions and help.

Thanks!

Rick

1, I haven't personally tested FreeMake Video Converter yet. However, I'm pretty sure Handbrake is one of the fatest and most reliable, free(!!!) converters, which you will want to prefer to most if not all converters out there. You could try re-converting your files with it to see whether there're lipsynch problems with its output.

2, you could directly try to feed the ripped (but still not converted), original DVD files to GoodPlayer (if you do have it) as it's able to play back original DVD's. (Actually, it's one of the best all-around players for iOS).

BTW, alternatively, you could give a try to MakeMKV ( http://www.makemkv.com/ ), one of the best all-around (and FREE!) tools around. It converts DVD's to MKV files; however, if you use a MKV player like It's Playing (see http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/goodplayer-developers-release-hardware-mkv-vid eo-player-powerplayer for a generic article on MKV playback, the recommended players etc.), you can directly play it back. (Or, by remuxing it into MP4 / MOV files with Subler and the likes, with the stock, built-in Videos player.)
