removing file with error code -35

I want to remove a file from my external drive but the contents of that file are deleted already. Only the alias remains. But I can't delete it since "The operation can't be completed because one or more required items can't be found. (Error code -35)" appears. What can I do to remove this file? Help

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), external hard drive

-35 translates as "volume cannot be found"

Has the HD been removed previously without unmounting (ejecting) first?

Yes,because I have a problem with my new external HD. It's often freeze.

That's likely to be the problem then - the file structure on the external may have been damaged so the Finder can't write or read it.
