Is there a thunderbolt expresscard for MacBook pro
Is there a thunderbolt expresscard expansion card for an early 2011 MacBook pro?

Actually, that is not what I am looking for.
This item connects to a lightening bolt port on a MacBook pro
My MacBook pro is the early 2011 model that does NOT have a thunderbolt port.
I want to add a thunderbolt port with an expansion card.
Anybody have info on this?
Thanks
All 2011 MBPs have Thunderbolt ports. Is your MBP model 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 or something else? Check in System Profiler.
Ciao
I bought this Macbook January 2011. System says this is a Mid 2010 Macbook Pro.
Per the manual, the port that I have is called a mini display port. There is no thunderbolt port.
Checked hardward under thunderbolt - says no hardware found.
I do not have a thunderbolt port, but want to add one.
Any ideas?

You can't.
So there are no expresscards that can add a thunderbolt port?
My 17" MacBook pro does have an expresscard expansion port...
Again, you cannot add thunderbolt in any way, shape or form to your computer.
The express card allows you to add eStata and USB 3 Connections (though not ar full USB 3 data rates) to your MBP but NO THUNDERBOLT. wjosten is 100% correct. Only 2011 and newer MBPs have that feature.
Ciao.
