I don't quite remember when I purchased my MBP. But I am having this issue and I am scared for the fact that I might be just a little over the two year coverage period. Will I still be covered?
I do hope they replace it :|

Apple normal warranty is for 1 year. If you bought the Applecare extended warranty that give you an extra 2 years of coverage for a total of 3 years. If you didn't buy Applecare then your warranty has past, expired, a long time ago.
The standard warranty period is one year, the AppleCare warranty extends that to three years. So you are either beyond the one year warranty or within the AppleCare coverage.
Visit the Apple genius bar and have them diagnose the problem and they can check the records on your warranty and let you know the coverage and your options.
My unit is one of the unfortunate machines who are affected by the issue (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US)
It is said there that:
Apple will service affected 15-inch MacBook Pro computers free of charge until two years from date of purchase. Apple will provide further extensions to this program as needed. This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the affected MacBook Pro.
Do I still qualify?
Only Apple can say if they will still cover you under that program. Best bet is to get to an Apple store genius bar or authorized repair service soon to see if they will take care of your computer.
Problem is we don;t have an apple store in my country, we only have authorized service centers and premium resellers. :| Any other option?
An authorized service center should be able to take care of you, they deal directly with Apple and understand the Apple recommended service.
Thanks! Will head out to an apple service center over the weekend. Will let you guys know. Cheers and thanks!
