Everyone on here is a fellow user so sometimes questions just get missed by people or the people looking at a particular category don't know and move on rather than reply.
Anyway, sometimes when Mail does not seem to be responding for a particular email account it helps to just delete that account, make sure all of the info is removed. Close and reopen Mail and then create the account again. This has come up a couple times on here and that seems to help.
