what are sync services

It Says that the sync services aren't connected or something when i try to sync my ipod

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

Maybe here:

Advanced troubleshooting for Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010

Also go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and Rseset Sync History.

If still problem what did the error message say exactly?
