I live in Argentina, can I buy an unlocked iPhone in the US?
Can I buy an iPhone unlocked in Chicago (so I can bring it here (Argentina) and use it)? If possible how much does it cost?

Right, thank you, do you know how much does it costs?

$649 to $849 depending upon drive size
Yes. The only legitimate place to get one is at an Apple Store. You can not order from the online store without a valid US credit card.
As Limnos points out, the warranty is NOT international. You will have to bring it to the US or send it to someone you know in the US if it ever needs service.
According to this list: Claro, Movistar, and Personal are the only supported carriers in Argentina. Only Claro offers Visual Voice Mail as a feature.
Using it with an unsupported carrier means some features may not work as expected or at all.
Right, thank you, do you know how much does it costs? I've searched in Amazon and I found a few for U$D 700. I can buy through Amazon without a US credit card, I bought a Panasonic camera last year.
But I'm asking because I'd like to avoid Amazon if possible
Amazon is NOT an authorized distributor of iPhones. The ONLY legitimate source for unlocked iPhones in the US is Apple. You will only be able to purchase one if you physically come to the US and buy it in a brick and mortar Apple Store.
I don't know about other details but remember you would have to return it to the US (or get somebody to do it) if you wanted in-warranty free repair.
