There are 3rd party apps that provide for this such as OPlayer.

Jun 14, 2012 10:45 AM in response to seema70by Menneisyys,You can use third-party players unless the videos are Full HD. The following players have excellent MSMPEG4 / DivX / XviD (the most common codecs used in AVI files) support:

You may also want to convert them into MOV / MP4 etc. files so that the stock Videos can also play them back. Then, you will want to use Handbrake. Do NOT listen to people recommending other, commercial converters - they're, in most cases, inferior!
