Possible to customize window title?

Hi,

My friend is switching from Eudora to Mail and he has some questions that I can't answer:

Is it possible to change the window title of the opened emails to show the sender and date instead of the title of the email? Alternatively, is it possible to show a listing of all opened messages sorted by the sender and/or date?

Can anyone help with these questions?

Austin,
1) Go to Mail, Preferences, Tab viewing, Show Header detail, choose custom and select what you want to see.

2) select a mailbox that contains themails you want to see, type the name of the one you want to see in the upper right search box

The list you now see can be sorted by date, subject, size etc. (any column you have visible in that view).

Thanks for the reply. I guess the questions wasn't clear enough. Basically, my friend gets a lot of emails a day and he manages them by keeping the the ones he needs to reply in open windows. When he was using Eudora, he would look at the windows menu which shows all the opened emails by senders and dates. In Mail, however, the windows menu shows opened emails by the titles of those opened windows which are the email subjects. He was wondering if there is a way to change the default window title so that they show sender and date instead of subject. Alternatively, if there is a way to show a listing of all the emails that are opened in their individual windows along with senders and dates it would also work for him.

Would it be possible to customize Mail to do either one of those two things? Maybe using AppleScript?

Hey,

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the title to display the information you want. I am sure your friend is used to this behavior from Eudora, but I would recommend a different method for sorting through emails that need to be replied to.

Perhaps your friend could flag messages and then create a smart mailbox containing all flagged messages. Seems, easier than having a bunch of windows open and it would allow for sorting via the list.
