Jun 14, 2012 2:17 PM in response to Brice Gallowayby BGreg,That's the problem with those upgrade disks, they require that you have the prior operating system installed, or they don't work. You can call Apple support to find out if they still have a replacement set of original OS X disks available and what the cost is. Otherwise, your least cost alternative, if your system supports it, is to buy Snow Leopard for $29, which is just the operating system, and install that. It does not include the iLife programs.
If you need to install 10.4, you can probably buy retail disks in the used market, or this vendor has unopened Apple software.
Anybody who knows macs shouldn't touch your system without the original OS X disks, as that's theonly way they get the Apple hardware test, not to mention OS X and the iLife programs.
