Q: can I add a external hard drive to my time capsule

I have a time capsule. and I want to add a external hard drive. how can I do that?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

    Buy any USB external drive and plug it in. However, it will not be usable as additional storage for the Time Capsule. It can only be used as a separate drive you can use for storage or as a separate backup drive if you switch to it in Time Machine.
