No that has nothing to do with pairing a mouse or keyboard. Please carefully look over Pair Mouse or Trackpad and Pair Wireless Keyboard.

Jun 14, 2012 8:48 PM in response to Hatskibby X423424X,★HelpfulForget about the internet stuff. That has nothing to do with your BT problems.
If you don't have a wired keyboard or the BT keyboard is not paired some of these steps are going to be a problem. But I'll suggest them anyhow. Do what you can.
Do a smc and pram reset (pram reset requires keyboard).
After logging in (keyboard?) open BT system preferences. Remove the mouse and TP if they are in the device list. Then try to re-pair both devices. Make sure you have the "discoverable" checkbox set in the BT preferences.

Jun 15, 2012 5:39 AM in response to Hatskibby rkaufmann87,Let us know what fixed it. One other thing to do is restart in Safe Mode , this will clear some caches. It's very possible one or more is corrupt.

Oct 21, 2012 9:25 AM in response to Hatskibby sveronneau,After my hard disk replacement in April 2012 the same thing happened to me. I bought a corded Apple mouse and keyboard, but missed the functionality of my trackpad.
I received an email 2 days ago from Apple regarding the Seagate replacement program. iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program
I suspected an antenna issue, so when I took the iMac 27 to the Genius bar appointment I told them of my experience with extreme limited range and connectivity for them to look for antenna or bluetooth card seating problems. I wish I had had your post from June to show them.
The replacement drive that I paid for in April 2012 was becoming unreliable just as the initial Seagate drive when I purchased in June 2010.
But the letter authorizing only arrived two days ago, fortunately just during 2 days of HD problems. SMART testing passes the HD but shows Seek Errors and Temperature problems with the drive.
I hope to hear from Apple soon and have a perfectly functioning iMac again.
